Bridge Markland / Jerry Jenkins                            berlin cabaret project
- Lenght: 2 hours plus one intermission

Bridge Markland
Berlins notorious transformation artist and Bandleader Jerry Jenkins invite you to an evening of spectacular entertainment.
The frame of the night will be Jerry Jenkins & his Band of Angels wonderful fresh and lively mix of music: romantic Waltz and Tango for melting hearts, Rumba and Cha-Cha for swinging hips, pulsating Jive, Polka to carry you away and crazy Twist that shakes the walls. Inbetween Bridge Markland jumps into many female, male and androgynous roles and characters. Her specialty is the transformation into different beings in front of the audiences disbelieving eyes. She will also be interpreting dance music classics in a new and different light, plus singing several wonderfully strange art songs. Jerry Jenkins created songs in the style of American and European dance music classics to Bridge Marklands Poetry Slam like lyrics. The whole evening is creating an exciting mixture of styles, which is asking to be experienced.

berlin cabaret project feels inspired by Berlin Cabaret during the Weimar Republic. They do not want to merely recreate these historic artforms, but rather aim to transform and develop them into modern forms of artistic expression.
Atmosphere will be created not historicism.

Jerry Jenkins & his Band of Angels:
Away with dinnerjackets and cultivated boredom. Here comes Jerry Jenkins & his Band of Angels, ambassadors of a new generation of Ballroom Bands. The groups outfit is reminiscent of Laurel & Hardy and The Gang.  Their music conjures in their audience the spirit of the “roaring Twenties” and gives it new life. With their novel interpretations, the band makes songs written 80 years ago sound fresh, as if they had been written yesterday. From the origins of Jazz to Rhythm & Blues, crossing musical and cultural boundaries, through the colourful world of Chicago Shuffle, New Orleans Rag and Louisiana-Stomp, the French-Waltz and the Argentinian melancholy, Jerry Jenkins takes us on a journey through time of American and European dance music.

Bridge Markland the Berlin dance-theatre-cabaret-performance-artist is a virtuoso of roleplay and transformation. A chameleon which throws herself into many extremes, but isn’t merely limited to one of them. She is an artist who effortlessly crosses all boundaries between sub- and high-culture, dance, theatre, performance, cabaret and erotic-art. Her speciality are transgender-performances in which the audience can experience the change of woman to man (or vice versa). There is an erotic aura around her in all roles and genders. She has female and male sex-appeal far away from hetero- or homosexual limits and all inscribed identities. Other focuses are: classic interpretations in collage with popular music, biographic performances, grotesque-dance/dance-improvisation, walk acts, silent-movies, writing, readings…
Bridge Markland has 6 full evening shows and 17 short performances in her solo repertoire.
For many years she has been a thrill to her audiences performing on stages in Europe, USA and Australia...
